The Alice Springs Uniting Church worships in the heart of town in the John Flynn Memorial Church building. We acknowledge and celebrate the traditional owners, the Arrernte, on whose land we gather, and pay our respects to their elders past, present and future. We are a proudly multicultural group with Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples and languages sharing in ministry together. An all-age community of faith, we long to see the Kingdom of God break into our own lives and the healing and the redemption of God at work in our time and place. We value the deep stillness of the land in which we live, and, with our Aboriginal leaders showing the way, seek to listen to deep truths of God’s love and allow the trustworthy character of the creation of which we are a part to shape our discipleship. Justice, sustainability and reconciliation are key expressions of the holistic faith we seek to nurture in each other, and from which we seek to act from in our relationships with the wider community which we serve.

A Building for All…
John Flynn dreamed of a cathedral within Central Australia where people of all faiths could worship. After his death, his friends across Australia built one in his memory. It was opened by the Prime Minister in 1956, and its design was a result of a national architectural competition incorporating passive cooling, local and national symbolism in its design.
Take a self-guided tour, walking the sign of the Cross built into the Church’s design, and learn about the many aspects of Flynn’s achievements in his life. Reflect for a moment on his life, and your own, in this peaceful sanctuary.
John Flynn Memorial Church is a part of The Flynn Trail, a self-guided heritage tour in Alice Springs and surrounds.
- Open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm (where volunteers are available), with Worship at 9am on Sunday.
- Car park
- Public Toilet
